Nicklas and Matthias decided to take up the challenge of an oversees assignment.
Nicklas was participating in a trainee program in the US for 18 months, working on specific trade lanes and cross-trade shipments. His journey now took him to Belgium, where he is working at the DSV air freight office in Machelen, in the Brussels Airport Cargo Center. “Now that I started here, I would like to understand the language. Otherwise I am the kind of guy who wants to continue growing here in this industry and at this amazing company. You can always be better at everything.” – explains Nicklas when asked about his learning objectives.
Matthias always had an eye for air transport:
“As a young kid, I was always staring at the sky and wondering what the planes were carrying. I also chose this sector because I really like the international atmosphere.”
As part of this exchange, he moved from Belgium to Clark, US where he is working in a more operational role as part of the Import Key Account Group, which he sees as a big benefit for the future: “I believe my English will really improve by following this traineeship for 18 months in the US. Another important advantage is that after this program I will be able to better understand the operations and deliver more operational tasks. I really wanted to go on this adventure because I know it will boost my career.”
Moving abroad, especially to a new continent is a big step and challenge, considering all the cultural and personal changes. However, it is also a great opportunity and the DSV management in both countries felt it important to offer and support this learning experience.
We wish Nicklas and Matthias a successful and exciting journey ahead!
